About NZ First

New Zealand First was formed on 18 July 1993 as a political party to represent the views of New Zealanders concerned about the economic and social direction of New Zealand, the sale of public assets to foreign control, and the decline in employment and social services.

Our vision is to put New Zealanders first through enlightened economic and social policies, by placing control of our resources in local hands and by restoring faith in the democratic process.

We believe that:

Our future must be based on sound economic growth based on exports;

Anyone capable of working should be given the chance to do so and receive “first world” wages and salaries;

We are entitled to live in our homes and walk our streets without fear;

Our country should not be a haven for queue-jumping asylum seekers and bogus refugees;

Immigration should not be an excuse for failing to train and employ our people;

All New Zealanders and must be treated equally under the law;

We should have financial security in retirement with easy access to health services;

There should be an end to unnecessary rules and regulations based on misguided political correctness;

We must have sound public service ethics;

There must be free access to improved public education and health services;

We must be able to develop a society that values our people, our environment and recognises our unique way of life.
