Winston says...

… Helicopter used for travel during past campaigns……

It is difficult to believe, but just five days from polling day and we are having to waste time talking about past campaigns and helicopters! This is just another media sideshow to divert voters from the real issues they face.

New Zealand First has used helicopters for travel during two election campaigns - but not for campaigning itself.

The way a question was framed on Agenda yesterday implied that we had used a helicopter to campaign from, which of course was ridiculous because of the physical impossibility of speaking to crowds in a noisy gale.

We used a helicopter to travel and I do not deny that, but to suggest that I somehow stood at the door of a flying helicopter shouting at voters is preposterous. We were campaigning - not deerstalking!

absolutely hilarious to see all this focus on modes of transport in the last week before an election! …has a hint of a good dr suess story ;)
keep on keeping on..came up with an election slogan..’we’ll be there in two ticks’ ..roll on saturday 8th!

The media have gone nuts. Seriously.

They think you wanted to obtain a Helicopter and paint it Black n white with the NZ First slogan all over it, I mean…. which party does that, like ever?? or even consider such a thing.

The media have frenzied themselves into an idiotic state.

We see the Herald is up for Grabs!
Hope they don’t replace it. Get rid of all papers that can’t report the facts as they have happened. Most people are feedup with events that are cut into a jigsaw with the main pieces missing, thus giving an incomplete & distorted picture.
I wonder what they are going to report on after the election?

  4. Young NZ First Supporter Says:

In past years, I always found it interesting to see the media, when ‘discussing’ New Zealand First’s immigration policy, usually followed the story closely with some kind of emotive ‘racial violence’ story usually involving a skin head thug and an Asian. It always amazed me that people in general didn’t immediately click to this being an obvious psychological ploy to increase association between the NZ First and ‘Racism’ regardless of how ridiculous this association is on close inspection.

I am now in awe how many New Zealanders fail to see through this orchestrated smear campaign. Fortunately there are many who do, and will be out on Election Day to support you Winston and New Zealand First!

Your party has more relevance than ever, and policies with substance.

All I want to do is alert you to this: http://wellingtonhive.blogspot.com/2008/11/this-is-interesting.html

The site mentioned hits Winston pretty hard and if there is a turncoat in the PMs office then Winston needs to know!!!

If there is nothing to worry about then well and good but if not just make sure you watch your back

Winston says: There is absolutely nothing to worry about. This is just another blatant lie from the right-wing blog machine. We suggest you don’t read such sites, because what they write is just complete and utter fabrication.

Absolutely, this is a political assasination attempt.
There throwing everything they can to see if anything will stick in people’s minds.
If there concentrating this much firepower on NZF, it’s obvious the party stands in the way of an agenda of overbearing interest groups, used to getting their way all the time.
it’s actually ominous to see consistent, managed manipulation ride roughshod over people that dare to stand up and have another point of view.
You can”t afford not to vote New Zealand First.
    The stakes are too high.

I have been thinking a lot about this media crazyness … and come to the conclusion that whats really the problem in the New Zealand media is that they are mostly just completely and utterly useless.

Over this last year I started noticing that TV NZ news was pilfering its international news items almost verbatum from two day old ‘yahoo’ news bulletins. Seriously … just start comparing yourself and be shocked.

Whats worse - is these guys are so thick headed, that they dont even seem to get on Reuters or BBC … they must muck around all day doing nothing, then at the last minute - do a quick scan of the major news on Yahoo and write tomorrows headlines.

If you dont believe it - try it out for yourself. Believe me - we would all be much better informed (probably even about our own country) - if we turned off the NZ news and just relied upon the internet.

    Its Sad Sad Sad.

Whats the effect of this abuse by a self appointed elite in the fourth estate? There will be a time when so few average ‘joe bloggs’ people vote that democracy will be dead in this country. Where once upon a time folks got up and voted as a civil duty, now and in years to come … the only ones voting will be those with ideologies, and special interests.

    I fear,
    I am sad,
I fear we will lose one of the best politicians in this country,
I fear we will lose rational discussion on how to make our NZ country better,
and I fear that our $NZ will crash even further as we slide into third world staus,

It is not over until it’s over and the people will decide on Saturday. NZ First and Mr Peters in particular have been taking a pounding in the last few months, National, ACT, the media all keen to put the boot in but it is deeper than that NZ First hasn’t got near the 5% since the last election. All the parties bar none pay lip service to Abraham Lincoln’s words “government of the people by the people for the people”. A party that says those words and the public believe them will bolt in. All thats required is honesty, sincerity and the truth is that too much to ask. NZ First and the Spenser Trust, Key and the Ruahine and Waitamata Trusts and rail shares. ACT and Bob Jones donations, Dunne and the Vela family donations, Labour and Glenn donations. Who to vote for, take your pick and I’ll take NZ First. NZ First deserves to remain in parliament and I hope we do. Mr Peters, JFK said “foregive your enemies but never forget their names” Post election remember the bastards.

  11. Jean Walker Says:

What will they say next? I get so mad. Maybe I should back mad rush in the cup. You too Winstone. I know a lot of people who are voting for you because they think you have guts. Me too, Good Luck

  12. Chris Noldus Says:

I am not a NZ First supoorter, and never will be. You won’t get my vote, but I will gladly concede that the media has really behaved quite stupidly this election.

Who actually cares weather you used a helicopter or not? If you want to use one, go for it, if not thats fine to.

Why the media thinks that you would willingly lie about such an issue is totally beyond me. Why the media believes such an issue is important enough to bombard the NZ public with clearly suggest that they are very short on any actual news.

I may not vote for ya winnie, but you do at least have my sympathy in this respect.

  13. Reremoana Byrnes Says:

I have watched and listened and feel deeply saddened by the way in which the media, Rodney Hide, John Keys and other political leaders, and business associates have determined to deliberately and brutally destroy the character of Winston Peters and the NZ First Party. There has been a continual and blatant attempt to use such smear tactics that we have all witnessed over the past months to do only one thing and that is to get rid of the only person that stands in their way of really taking us all for a ride. Why else would they be trying so hard, coming up with all sort’s of accusations if the first ones don’t stick. My hope is that If I can see this as plain as day and night than I know that the ‘decent, honest Kiwi’ must also. Bullying is a plague rampant in our school’s, destroying the soul’s of many of our children both victim and perpetrator. Give them hope and give us all hope by not allowing such bullying of any description to permeate and destroy our true ‘kiwi culture’.
