… Party Vote New Zealand First……
Today is our last on the campaign trail for this 2008 general election.
It has been difficult for New Zealand First to receive a fair hearing this election campaign. But against that backdrop, our MPs and our supporters have fought a great campaign. We’ve risen above the endless allegations and the smear tactics to talk about the issues that are important to New Zealand right now.
For over 15 years New Zealand First has been in Parliament talking about the issues that matter and delivering on our promises. We have been consistently making a difference to the way this country is governed. We’ve always taken our own road, armed with nothing but our vision. We have that vision still and we know we can make a difference over the next three years, particularly as New Zealand passes through some turbulent economic times in the immediate future. We have the policies that will protect and save your New Zealand.
New Zealand First will make sure our businesses and workers are given a fair go. We’ll re-write the Reserve Bank Act, we’ll lower GST to 10% and we’ll introduce a tax-free threshold on the first $100 earned each week.
New Zealand First will create safer communities. We’ll ban gangs, we’ll target at-risk children at primary school age and we’ll involve more women and community groups in bettering our communities.
New Zealand First will provide security for our future. We’ll increase NZ Super to 68% of the net average wage for a married couple, we’ll expand on the SuperGold Card entitlements and we’ll make sure New Zealand’s key strategic assets are kept secure and available for New Zealanders to invest in.
We believe fair-minded New Zealanders have heard us and they will return New Zealand First to Parliament tomorrow. They know that New Zealand First delivers on its promises. They know what New Zealand First can do for this country over the next three years.
Thank you to all those who have supported us and who will vote for us tomorrow. Make sure your neighbours and friends vote for us too. Every vote counts.
PARTY VOTE NEW ZEALAND FIRST.

Looks like the Herald is at it again, more NZ First/Winston attacks, they need to take a break, foreal.
And when they opened up the discussion asking kiwis if Winston has done enough to redeem himself in light of being cleared by the Police, SFO and Privillages committee, they should’ve just ask the public, if the NZ Herald’s smear campaign and media attack on NZ First and Winston Peters had worked?
Which is what they obviously wanted to know on the dawn of electon.
Anyway, I was going to vote National as a vote against Labour, but now, because of the way the media has rubbished Winston and NZ First on alot of rubbish in a pretty currupt fashion making accusations that resulted in egg on their faces. I’m gonna go 2 ticks to NZ FIRST as a vote for ‘democracy’.
November 7th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
i was thinking of voting green but was put off by russel saying winston peters being out of cabinet was their condition for support.
what a petty personal piece of spite & bandwagon-jumping.
it must be winston-bashing season again, but you’d think the public would learn from how that has worked out in the past.
remember when personal acrimony was worked up against peters to defeat his very sensible saving scheme, which was too good an idea to die in that referendum & has now come to life in slightly different form as the very popular kiwisaver.
nzfirst now gets my party & local vote (good luck asenati)

I wish NZ First the best for tomorrow. I to will vote for NZ First on the basis that time and time again the media and big business have sought to undermine Winston Peters and have through his dogged determination been proved wrong. Thank goodness there is one politician in NZ with integrity.
Can I suggest an inquiry into the ethics of NZ media is warranted. Media commentators should at least have to declare their party affiliations.
I also applaud NZ First for having the courage to tackle the immigration issue. Here is hoping it is not too late.
November 7th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
If we are to believe the papers ,tv and so called ‘experts’ then tomorrow its all over for NZ First. I dont believe all that I read and hear thank goodness. I always have….always will totally support NZF and Winston …a man of integrity as Elizabeth has written above me! I will always be around to help/support if needed.
Goodluck.
Put New Zealand.. first!
Winston says: We’ve been telling media all day we’re going to shock the pollsters tomorrow night!
November 7th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Go Winston
Without NZ First New Zealand wouldnt survive in the blistering world. I applaude Winston
November 7th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
I would like to wish Winston and NZ First all the very best for tomorrow and congratulate you on a very sucessful 15 or so years of doing the best for NZ and it’s people, may ther be anoter 15+ to come. I know you will do well in the polls tomorrow as you are a strong and good hearted man and party and genuine NZer’s know that and look above the hype that was created. I was unsure who to vote for but after the ACT and media fiasco my decision has been made, 2 ticks for NZ First!
November 7th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Its all positive, & you won’t shock us. Only the media have done that, do you know that a 1500 on line report, from Radio NZ headed: “Polls on NZ wrong, says Peters” They have you Winston, spending your last day of campaigning in “ROTORUA!” where your party’s list MP “Ron Marks is standing!” Well now, doesn’t that tell us all the intelligence of the media? They don’t even know New Zealand Geography. They are a lost cause. I hope most of them are the first to loose their jobs with the the recession we are in.
Lots of support from our area for you.
How exciting it is all becoming. We are hearing, Heaps of Positives. Go Winston, Go Ron, Go all of the Team
Go New Zealand First. All the very best from us both. Cheers,
Paul & Judy.

It would seem that it is not too late - Morgan poll puts NZF at 4.5% this afternoon.
Talkback radio this afternoon seems also to have seen a resurgence of support.
This election campaign has been a disaster all around. Only one debate on TV1 for minor party leaders and no chance for them to interact publicly with Clark or Key. Then there has been the muck-raking which has been at an all-time high with solid policy at an all-time low from the major parties.
I have voted NZF (party vote) since MMP started. I did so again today. Policies largely dictate my vote, but it is also very important to me that NZ be represented overseas by someone who speaks concisely and uses correct grammar. I am afraid John Key does neither. He is clearly a product of the penultimate revolution in educational pedagogy from the 1960s-70s - look and say reading and the new maths!
I happen to live in the Helensville electorate and voted for him last time. Haven’t set eyes on him since! Today he lost my vote.
Good luck tomorrow NZF! You have one special vote coming at least.
One more thing Winston, if you happen to read this. Please do something about this light bulb business! I am well under 60 and have bought every type of energy-saving light bulb available. I spent over $1000 rewiring my study area to put dimmers in because I simply cannot read with these new-fangled bulbs. The dimmers are for use when I am not reading. I am busy stockpiling enough bulbs to last me for another 30 years but am running out of house-room. So, if you want me to be able to read the ballot paper in the next election, please do something if you get the chance!
Bets of luck to us all!
November 7th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
After a week of gaining support for you Winston, all my friends and family . . knowing that I have done my bit . . I am even more proud to be a New Zealander! . . I know NZ First will get many votes tommorrow . . and for this . . I am very happy. Thank you for your many years of service to our proud nation Winston!
November 7th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
After reading the above comments I am reminded of Winston’s comments made over & over again about the integrity, wisdom & decency of the New Zealand people . People who are able to sift through the mire of innuendo & make intelligent decisions. I am encouraged & hope that the people exercise their responsibility to vote in numbers tomorrow.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I shall be voting NZ First.
I have been hearing from the elderly around Christchurch that they are all getting on buses and getting out and about..and loving it. So here’s hoping they remember the only party which does anything for them tomorrow.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Good luck mate.
And God save New Zealand.
November 7th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
I have already voted for NZ First in my advance vote. As a long-time National Party office-holder, I am disgusted at the way Winston Peters has been treated. I hope he sues the individuals and media outlets for defamation. I’ll cough up cash towards the legal fees. And which big business interests paid for the airliner that Key used over the last two days!!? Al;l the best, Winston.
November 7th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Most people in this country believe in a person getting a fair go…. I am disgusted at the way Winston has been treated …. not to mention the cost involved, and the waste of peoples time.
Hope all goes well on Saturday Winston,Good Luck.
You have 3 new votes that I know of.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Hi winston
I rang my grandparents today just to make sure they were planning to vote NZ First, which they were.
In all honesty winston my decision tomorrow was between you and John Key, because i firmly believe in anti-socialist policies i just feel that labour is slowly embracing too many government sponsered programs that im afraid John Key may be right when he accused Helen of ushering in a new era of communism by stealth.
However, when i watched your final campaign speech on TV1 tonight i was impressed with the strength of your beliefs, which is why based on that plus your resolve to overcome alot of adversity which you handled with dignity, you have earnt both my votes. Goodluck tomorrow winston.
November 7th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Well done for all that you have done, Winston. I am proud of you. Every New Zealander has benifited from you and your party. I recently receieved a letter from you, regarding John Key. You’re right- he should be appologising.
Best of luck Winston
November 7th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
have just wrapped up in kaikoura..had the most amazing positive response as we spent the last 5 hours driving round continually..balloons and flags flying high..and a song we used years ago that has as much if not more relevance today ..the most exciting thing here that usually happens is a hoarding falls over!..lol..today we had hoards of kids crumping/dancing..toots and waves and thumbs up…it was a fantastic afternoon/evening ..everyone apart from a very few (grumpy obviously right leaners)… said we have their vote so im guessing the pollsters arent actually taking to REAL people
..roll on tomorrow and watch this space
November 7th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Winston, from the start I gave two ticks to NZFirst, and I will be doing it again tomorrow.NZFirst is the best party, with the best policies, and you would make the best Prime Minister.Thankyou for the good things you have done for this country.I convinced my friend at work to vote for you,she was initially against you,but I changed her mind when I pointed out what you stand for.All the best Winston,I hope many more people change their minds and vote for NZ First tomorrow!
November 7th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Good luck Winston. I hope alot of NZ have woken up and will vote for you tomorrow…you’ll be the King and not the Kingmaker.
November 7th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
All the best Winston. You’re a good guy with a big heart. It’s been a rollercoaster ride but I think you’ve got the support. The horse has bolted on the economy, I’m not sure how we’re going to make it through, but I hope NZ First is there in numbers with as much influence as possible to soften the impact. Really enjoyed listening to you on Radio Live with JT and Willie….excellent
November 7th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
After watching your broadcast on TVone tonight I have decided to give my party vote to New Zealand First.
New Zealand really needs an experienced, focused, strong and patriotic man like you in parliament Winston.
All the best for today.
Cheers
November 8th, 2008 at 4:55 am
All the very best. Pre, during, and post election. Winston, you are one of a kind and people are fortunate to have you and NZ First around.
November 8th, 2008 at 7:30 am
All the best for today Mr Peters. To tryly walk the path that you have over the past 20+ years has taken courage. I have the courage and beflief that NZ First will make a diference in my life and my families life. NZ First will get my tick.
November 8th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Wishing you all the best of luck , hoping new zealanders wake up and see the futility of divisive muck raking, and tick the boxes of those who have been proved to have integrity
November 8th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Go Winston: You will be getting both of our party votes in Hamilton West. Because of the crap out of John Key & the Greens, their Electorate Candidates will not.
November 8th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
I am off to vote soon and my party tick is for NZ First. My Dad, Mum and sister have voted for NZ First too.
You know why? Because NZ First represents me, my family and every other hard working Kiwi.
November 8th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Good luck Winston & New Zealand first. The poeople of NZ will be worse off without you. Lets hope that they realise that and return NZ first to paliament
November 8th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Winston.
I voted for NZ First because I believe you have a valuable voice for the public in the NZ Parliament.
And I will be voting for NZ First next time.
The New Zealand Parliament will be a grey and boring place without you.
Keep Fighting!!!
November 9th, 2008 at 9:07 am
All the best Winston.I voted for you regardless.Stick by your Guns mate. You don’t have to comment to the media (they are all grasping at thin air for a comment) talk to your supporters and look after yourself and your family.Go out with dignity and leave them to it.
November 9th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Parliaments gonna suck without you to be honest…great speech, loved seeing you push the media back and talk to the people, media and Hide killed your campaign, very hard luck to be 4th party in NZ and not get in. All the best.
November 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Dear Winston
I want to remind you Winston of the great things you have done as a member of our government and parliament over the years. You have been courageous when battling the large business groups, you have been tenacious when comparing the facts to the story, you have been focused when building our relationships overseas and you have been committed to leading a party that did represent NZ citizens, people like me. Dont ever forget what you have contributed to our country in the capacity of being a member of parliament. You know anyone can be a manager or the head of a group, only very very few have the ability to be a leader - you ARE one of those people Winston. A leader who inspires, encourages others to take the next step, cares about and has a natural ability to invoke a sense of quality.
I met you once Winston (a long time ago) when I was a student - you were speaking at the University, I hung around and listened to you speak, I knew after hearing you that you were someone special and that NZ First was a party who offered better choices. I made sure I got to shake your hand afterwards.
A big heartfelt thankyou for your contribution to our country. We respect you as a man of integrity who was one of the defining politicians for NZ who will remain so. Look after yourself you should think about writing a book on your political experiences. We love you, respect you and will miss you - good luck with what ever you choose to do - look forward to hearing about whatever that is.
November 9th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
I’ll miss you in parliament Winston. Just so you know, you definitely got my vote (and I’m not over 65, I’m 20 and I think you’re awesome)
November 9th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
its not over…
anyone with an ounce of sense knows it was an orchestrated ousting..with hide as the conductor..anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously dim! it was so blatant and unfortunately the party suffered through the public falling for it…
i think too we as a country saw ourselves as living in a bubble instead of being naturally affected by a global situation
National pulled themselves so far over to the centre that nz firsts ‘uniqueness’ (not to mention majority of policy!!) was picked up by national..one can only hope they will deliver on what they have promised with a social conscience and not be swayed by act on the far right..who when you look at it were only endorsed by just over 3% of the country…hide and douglas could quite simply screw this country if given free rein.
Although gutting… i actually think in a way last night was a good
result..we will regroup and build the party stronger standing by the policies weve stood by proudly and implemented over the last decade..its not going to be an easy term for the incoming govt as the effects from international events kick in over the next 12 mnths..and 3 yrs i can honestly see another knee jerk reaction from the voting public as a result..3 years to focus on getting the party machine well oiled and pointing out what we can do better could well be the best thing to happen to nz first..albeit harder from outside looking in..the public WILL see what theyre missing..its all up to us..we can and will do it..we’ll be back
November 10th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Thanks very much for all you have done for us Winston…now we shall have to be a lot braver and do more for ourselves. NATIONALISM is on the rise EVERYWHERE . It is an unstoppable force , in spite of anything our socialist friends may tell us; so I am going to start helping our local nationalists with their spelling and writing. They may not have had years at the best schools , but what they lack in education , they make up in COURAGE and committment.
Thanks once again Winston , thanks for your courage and remember
BLESSED ARE THE PERSECUTED…
November 10th, 2008 at 11:15 am
