The police decision over New Zealand First party donations was totally expected. Rodney Hide’s complaint should have been shredded when it arrived.
The police say they are satisfied no offence was committed by New Zealand First over the returns of party donations in 2007.

Melbourne Cup Day is Australia’s premier racing event and it is also a very big deal here in New Zealand too.
New Zealand First has been a strong advocate of racing for many, many years. We won’t apologise for that, no matter how often we are attacked on it. Racing is a $1.5 billion industry. It brings New Zealand international attention and business. It could be bigger and better. New Zealand First is proud of its support for the industry.

It is difficult to believe, but just five days from polling day and we are having to waste time talking about past campaigns and helicopters! This is just another media sideshow to divert voters from the real issues they face.
New Zealand First has used helicopters for travel during two election campaigns - but not for campaigning itself.

I turned up for Agenda Sunday morning on TV One to talk about why there has been an orchestrated smear campaign against NZ First and why they don’t want us talking about the real issues. They cut my time short and wasted it by having John Roughan - a man who has declared himself a National Party supporter - asking the same old questions that were answered months ago. John wants us to change our story, because the facts just don’t suit his misconceptions. Worst, to have a man of John’s journalistic experience actually sit there and snigger when I tried to answer a serious question about the economy and the Reserve Bank Act was appalling. His prejudices were exposed for what they are.
